Yesterday, the streets of the historic center were full of vehicles and pedestrians, and businesses expanded their opening hours, due to the large number of people who were shopping.
The President of the Association of merchants of the Santiago Historic Center, Carlos Lora, recognized that commercial activities have been revitalized in recent days. He expressed however, that sales are much slower than in other years, but it is to be expected that from today it will take on a new impetus, when small and medium-sized businesses, honor the traditional December payment of twice the salary to their employees.
In Santiago there are many businesses that have not yet given the Christmas bonus or 13th wage to their employees, but said that they have between now and Wednesday to do so.
The authorities and the Civil Defense, are setting up December 23 to 25 operating "Christmas without accidents" and as part of these actions, will close a stretch of the street, Calle del Sol, where the larger part of the traditional businesses, where people go, are concentrate.
