First ten cities of the 211 that covers the "quality of life 2011 world study" prepared by the consultancy Mercer, seven are from the old continent, by its infrastructure, good medical care and a wide variety of offers of entertainment.
In Central America and the South, the best positioned in the list are Pointe to Pitre, in a respectable position 63, followed by San Juan de Puerto Rico (72), Montevideo (77), Buenos Aires (81), Santiago Chile (90) and Panama City (93).
Below are Monterrey (104), San José (105), Asunción (112), Lima (118), city of Mexico (121), Quito (124), Santo Domingo (129), Bogotá (130), Guatemala (142), La Paz (147), Caracas (164), Managua u000a(166), San Salvador (168), and already in queue, Havana posts (189).
On the other hand, the European cities with more quality of life put very high standards, from Vienna (1), Zurich (2), Munich (4), Düsseldorf (5), Frankfurt (7), Geneva (8), Copenhagen (to share ninth place), and Bern until Amsterdam (12), Hamburg (16), Berlin (17), Luxembourg (19) and Stockholm (20).
Other cities prominent in this regard are Brussels (22), Paris (30), Oslo (33), Helsinki (35) and London (38).
The first Spanish cities in this classification are at 40, Barcelona and Madrid, in 43.
On the other hand, cities with worse quality of life are Khartoum, Port au Prince, N'Djamena, Bangui and Baghdad, which ranked last in the general classification and ranking of security staff.
The report takes New York (which ranked 47) as a reference to compare the different levels of quality of life, for which evaluates u000aaspects as public services, offering leisure and accommodation, socio-cultural, economic, political and social environment, level of education and the environment.
Canadian cities are American cities that occupy senior posts, especially Vancouver (which shares fifth place with German Düsseldorf), Ottawa (14), Toronto (15) and Montreal (22), all of them between the first twenty-five

The study measured also the level of safety in each city, which takes into account factors such as the level of criminality, internal stability, the effectiveness of the law and international relations of the country concerned, among others.
In this sense, Luxembourg heads the classification of safest cities to live, followed by the Swiss cities of Bern and Zürich, who share second place, u000aWhile Madrid and Barcelona are relegated to the posts 63 and 68 respectively.
In the extreme opposite, the three most dangerous cities are Abidjan (219), N'Djamena (220) and Baghdad (221).
Between the Latin American cities, Guatemala (179), Tegucigalpa (180) and Caracas (205) have the lowest rates of security staff.
In the last year, some cities Libyan, Egyptian, Tunisian and Yemenis have fallen in this ranking due to the wave of protests that has spread throughout Middle East and the North of Africa.
According to Mercer, these lists help multinational companies and Governments to establish the levels of aid to be provided to their worker expatriates.
