Paredes said that after inspecting the facilities at seven flavored milk suppliers, 275 samples were taken for analysis and all the tests proved negative.
The companies whose plants were inspected and tested were; Lcteos Dominicanos (LADOM), Pasteurizadota Rica, Parmalat Dominicana, Procesadora de Leche Agua Mara, Planta Procesadora Cepy Cibao, Planta Procesadora Leche Fresca and Bebidas del Caribe.
Paredes said that samples of flavored milk were sent to four national laboratories and one in Puerto Rico, which ensured the accuracy of results and proved that the food provided to students in the country is fit for consumption.
He explained that he had met with the Regional Directors of Education to discuss preventing cafes located near schools selling foods to pupils that do not meet health standards.
The Minister also said he had suspended the purchase of bread and cake from six bakeries which had tested positive in the analysis of disease-producing bacteria in food delivered to the Angel Rosario Marte primary school .
On a separate subject, Paredes said checks will be issued this week totaling RD$50 million towards the debt with the bakers, amounting to RD$250 million.
