According to the congressman of the Snchez Ramrez province, the official version from the Canadian-owned company is unclear, because not all the workers who suffered vomiting and diarrhea ate the same food.
He called on the ministries of Environment and Public Health to conduct a joint investigation to uncover the real causes of the mass poisoning at the mine in Cotu.
The Senator says he suspects that Barrick Gold have prohibited workers from talking talk about the events of Monday night which saw at least 230 workers, mostly Peruvian, treated for what the company insist was a case of food poisoning.
