The jury for the competition, included among others, Rafi Vazquez, Leo Diaz, Coco Angel, Ora Avni and Silke Sadeghi as well as representatives from the schools Luis Hess, Children’s World, Garden Kids, ISS (International School of Sosua) and others to celebrate the award of the barrels which were painted by children as part of a program to donate trash cans for use on Sosua beach. This was driven in part by the concern for the amount of trash that accumulates on the beach, particularly during Semana Santa Easter weekend.
The results of the competition? International School of Sosua took first place, followed by Children's World which won two awards in different categories and so on, with prizes awarded by local companies Ocean World, Paraíso del Caballo, Superior Dive, Caribi Wind and others.
The event helped younger members to understand and give an ecological message helping to clean up our beaches.
It is worth noting that this activity would not have been possible without the wholehearted support of institutions and groups that together with the ADSS, have worked so hard in the protection and conservation of our natural resources. They include, Association of Sosua vendors, Sosua Town Council, Mr. Andrés Batista, Charlie Water Sport, Carolina Gomez (ADSS), and the ADSS Environment Committee who included Andres Pastoriza, Gerhard Mulder, Manual García de Aquino and Seperdad Sadeghi.
Look out for future events if you would like to help the association and help make a positive change for the local community.
