During the media ceremony, Colonel Luis Oscar Gómez accepted the keys on behalf of the fire department. Mayor Neumann and Rotary Club members said they were pleased that they were able to help in arranging for the specialized vehicle to be used to help local people for free.
The new ambulance will be part of the Sosúa Fire Department's fleet of vehicles. They also recently received two trucks in good condition donated by Canadian companies voluntarily engaged with the present municipal administration.
Although the ambulance did cost the local council for transport and paperwork, the Mayor thanked Cyril Yanarelli, a U.S. citizen, resident in the State of New Jersey without whose participation the arrival of the ambulance would not have been possible.
Cyril Yanarelli, who is a Rotary member, in a meeting with Ilana Neumann pledged to help the town hall management, and so back in the US began searching for an ambulance that the mayor had mentioned as one of their priorities, given that several people in the town have faced serious consequences due to a lack of this type vehicle.
The Sosúa Rotary Club was able to make the necessary arrangements with the Dominican customs to bring the ambulance over.
