Cespedes said that the problems confronting the economy at the global level affect real estate companies and builders in his community, but added that new projects were now starting.
He noted in a media interview on Sunday that this is an encouraging sign, because construction does not start if there is no demand.
"I think we're solving the problem of stagnation that has lasted for the past year, following the global crisis which also affected real estate and tourism in the town of Sosua," he said.
Cespedes said that major hotels in the area were showing good occupation levels.
"You can see a lot of tourists in the streets of Sosua, showing that there is a favorable situation for both Sosua and Cabarete in relation to tourism," said the municipal executive.
He stressed that up to 25 flights are arriving each weekend at General Gregorio Lupern International Airport, which shows the strength of tourism in Sosua.
