Syria Government kills 20

Viewed 14 times. The regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad intensified yesterday Monday its offensive despite having agreed a week ago to stop the bloodshed: the Government forces on Monday 20 people were killed over, reported activists, just hours before the scheduled arrival of the Arab League observers.
The new deaths occurred by an intense bombing in the Centre of the country. Activists said that Government forces have killed at least 275 civilians in the last week, and that other 150 people were killed in clashes between the army deserters and troops of the regime, most of them deserters.
The increase in the campaign of repression - which included what activists described as a "massacre" in a city where 110 people were riddled for several hours the week past - brought a new round of condemnation against Syria.
Neighboring Turkey said that the violence was u000aa mockery in the light of the agreement signed with the Arab League Damascus, which raises doubts about the true intentions of the regime.
Of the Arab League plan obliges the Assad Government withdraw security forces and heavy weapons from the streets of the cities, open talks with opposition leaders and allow the admission to the country of representatives of human rights and international journalists.
It is assumed that Arab monitors shall ensure compliance with the agreement, but so far there was no indication that Assad meets some term.
