Teachers seek to improve teaching of mathematics in the country

Viewed 19 times.Around 500 teachers participated in the 13th meeting Dominican of mathematics education (REDOME), in order to overcome the problems faced by students in the learning of mathematics and improve research on educational phenomena linked to the knowledge of this subject.
Activity was carried out by the higher Institute of teacher training (ISFODOSU) in partnership with the Latin American Committee of mathematics education (CLAMED) and with the participation of international and national exponents.
The Rector of ISFODOSU, Ana Dolores Guzman of Camacho, highlighted the importance of the meeting to reflect on the importance of improving methodologies for teaching mathematics.
"We are exhibiting on the results of mathematics, by what some students have low yields in this subject, and why the results of mathematics tests are lower than" u000a"others", said Camacho Guzmán.
The meeting began with a Conference on "Reflections on the teaching of the geometry", headed by the Chairperson of the CLAMED, Argentine educator Cecilia Crespo Crespo.
REDOME 13, dedicated this time to the now-defunct teacher Melba Erazo Baez, also carried out several workshops on "strategies for introducing algebra into basic education", "use of mathematical tools in the virtual classroom", "solution of systems of linear equations", "circumference, angles and their applications" and "teaching resources in support of teaching", among others.
During the opening of the activity, the CLAMED in Dominican Republic, teacher Angela Martinez, President stressed the importance of the conclave which brings together specialists in the area of mathematics of various universities of the country, as the autonomous of Santo Domingo (UASD), Apec (UNAPEC), institutes u000aTecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) and technological of the Americas (ITLA).
Some of the participants presented their experiences and outcomes research, exchanged knowledge on the premise of preserve the plurality of the existing approaches and respect for the diversity of educational experiences.
As a complement to this work of discussion of practices and theories of educational mathematics, ISFODOSU proposed to promote the study of the life and work of personalities linked to the development of this course in the country, to contribute to the development of historical knowledge and analysis capacity to better understand the processes of development of this discipline, depending on the cultural context of each era and Dominican region.
