Only 86,000 people visited the Teleférico cable car attraction on Mount Isabel de Torres during the 2011 year.

This information was disclosed by the Administrative President of the Teleférico patrons, Gregory Bourrogh, who said that there was a significant reduction in visits by foreign and domestic tourists last year, as it fell by over eight percent compared to 2010.

I visited Mount Isabel for the first time a few weeks ago. We hiked up to the top and took the cable car down...had fun. Actually if the people who run this operation were smart they would clean up the garbage and focus on putting in a real trail network with maps and signs. The hike to the top could become a HUGE tourist attraction. It is quite amazing. Hope it happens...

I agree. The view from the top is amazing. It could be a real tourist attraction, instead of a pretend one. Some friends over from the US visited this week, but the usual problems mar the whole experience. Aggressive gift shop owners at the top trying to force tourists into buying stuff they don't want - won't let them get away. Non-existent customer service - unless you pay (tip heavily). The large pool area left to rack and ruin. Poor (no) maintenance. I will probably be many years departed by the time the Government and people here learn to understand eco-tourism, but I live in hope.
A tourist hiking trail to the top would be simple enough to arrange, but they don't seem interested. Again, its something you have to pay for (if you can find a guide), which sort of negates the whole eco-tourism methodology.
