The Clintons and Other Celebrities Celebrate New Year’s in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

The Puntacana Resort & Club in Punta Cana, on the country’s easternmost region, was once again the favored place for many international visitors to celebrate New Year’s.
Once again, Punta Cana was chosen by President Bill Clinton and his wife, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, to spend the end-of-year holidays.
In the last few years the resort has become a favorite destination for the international jet set.
Also in Punta Cana for the holidays were designer Carolina Herrera and Anna Wintour, the world-famous editor of the American edition of Vogue magazine.
The resort, located just a few miles away from Punta Cana’s international airport, is owned and operated by the Grupo Punta Cana.
Run by Frank and Haydee Rainieri, other important shareholders are Oscar de la Renta, the world-renowned Dominican fashion designer and Spanish singer Julio Iglesias.
On various occasions the Clintons have been the honored guests of Oscar de la Renta, at his luxury villa in Punta Cana’s “Los Corales,” an exclusive residential area of the Punta Cana Resort & Club.
