The cold wave causes ten killed in Poland

Viewed 29 times.The cold snap that broke out in Poland the weekend has caused ten deaths by hypothermia, five of them died this morning, when the mercury reached record 27 degrees below zero in some parts of the East of the country, the Polish Interior Ministry reported today.
Temperatures will drop further in the coming days, especially in the north-eastern half of Poland, which could exceed 30 degrees below zero.
The Polish authorities appealed today to the population so that they tell the police where during the night to see homeless people or alcoholics in bad weather.
All the dead of hypothermia during the last days are just homeless or people with problems of addiction to alcohol.
"Alcohol gives a false sense of warmth and confidence, so if you see a person drink, lying in a ditch or a bench in the Park, they are not indifferent," asked the spokesperson u000aMinisterial, Malgorzta Wozniak, who recommended to use taxi services during the night to avoid returning home to foot.
Wozniak also warned citizens about defective, heating systems and regretted that since October of 2011 up past five January 44 people have died in Poland by inhalation of carbon monoxide
"Read the instructions on the stoves and do not forget good ventilation," recalled.
