The Lost City of Atlantis near Dominican Coast

The possible discovery of a city lost for nearly 5000 years and its possible resurgence in the bay of Manzanillo, Montecristi province, northwest of the Dominican Republic, could change the course of history.

Archaeologist, Fianchy Torres believes the ancient city, first mentioned by the Greek philosopher Plato disappeared off the Atlantic coast of Miami in the direction of Manzanillo.

He said his theories are based on the land level sinking and the sea level rising, leaving villages buried completely.

To back up his claims, he presented satellite photos taken by Google in 2004, where is envisioned between the mangroves and weeds, the possible discovery of the recurrence of the silhouettes of a city emerging from the depths of the water in the bay of Manzanillo.

In the Estero Balsa Lagoon, he said he can identify what he believes are walls and roofs of buildings; and similarly in the Saladillo Lagoon.

Last month a committee made up of American archaeologists and members of the Army visited the Saladillo area, but did not discuss the results of Torres’ investigations.

Torres explained that a month ago another group of French archaeologists worked with him on his investigations, but mysteriously disappeared leaving behind the results of the investigations.

The news of his research is spreading and many people are visiting the area eager to see if his claims will be verified.
