The NBA and players resume contacts

NBA players and owners resumed talks yesterday with the intention to lift the lockout that has already been 148 days and save the proverbial day of the League at Christmas.

This deadline generated some urgency because December 25 Parties are traditionally a showcase for the League. The three parties planned for Christmas in the season that is due to begin on 1 November include Miami in Dallas in a rematch of the NBA Finals, and the player more valuable Derrick Rose heading to Chicago against Los Angeles to face Kobe Bryant and the Lakers.

The players were represented by the executive director of the Trade Union Billy Hunter, President Derek Fisher, Vice President Maurice Evans, lawyer Ron Klempner and Economist Kevin Murphy.

Talks between representatives of the owners and players are now focused on resolving their lawsuits: players filed a grievance antitrust League in Minnesota, and the League filed a pre-trial in New York in order to prove that the lockout is legal.
