posted on: Feb 4 2012 12:55 by RDugey. Viewed 25 times.The number of civilians killed in the war in Afghanistan was increased for the fifth consecutive year in 2011 and reached the 3,021, according to a report by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), released today.
Disclosed at a press conference, the study requires that number implies 231 killed more than 2.790 registered during 2010.
According to the report, 77 percent of the deaths were attributable to the Taliban attacks, 14 per cent to operations of governmental or allied forces, and the nine per cent remaining was not attributable to any of both sides.
Suicide bombings and the pumps were the main cause of the killing of civilians by insurgent attacks, while aerial bombardment became more deadly operations carried out by Government and Allied troops.
After the increase in the death of civilians in the conflict, the representative u000aSpecial of the general secretariat of the United Nations in Afghanistan, Slovak Jan Kubiš, made an appeal to the parties to reverse the trend in this 2012.
"Civilians pay highest price in this war," denounced.
The report indicates that 11.864 people not combatants killed by armed actions in Afghanistan since 2007, when shot up the spiral of deaths of civilians in a conflict that began over one decade ago.
