With this decision, Pope Benedict XVI continues the line of his predecessor, John Paul II, who in 2004 named Rossana, who became the first religious which reached a position as high in the Roman Curia.
Spezzati, of the order of the lures of the blood of Christ, will thus become the "number three" of a dicastery as important as that dealt with the internal affairs of orders religious.
Each congregation of the Holy See is presided over by a cardinal as a "second" a Bishop, that exercises the function of Secretary.
