"Diseases are a sign of evil in the world and the man in action, while healing demonstrate that the Kingdom of God is near," said Benedict XVI during the traditional prayer of the Angelus of Sunday before thousands of faithful in Saint Peter's square, today presented an unusual image of snow-covered.
The Pontiff noted that the disease could be a "long and difficult" test and when healing not arrives and drags on the suffering we can remain "isolated", so the very existence is "depressed and dehumanizing".
Before this "evil attack", Pope Benedict XVI said that we must react with "appropriate cures", as medicine in recent decades has moved by "leaps and bounds", u000aAlthough stressed that "the word of God teaches us that there is decisive and behaviour of Fund to deal with the disease" which is the faith in God's love.
"As Jesus faced the evil with the power of love that came you from the father, also we can confront and overcome the proof of disease if we have the heart, immersed in the love of God", said Pope.
Benedict XVI also recalled that the next 11 February is celebrated the world day of the sick and said: "do as the people in the time of Jesus: spiritually present to all patients with confidence that he wants and he can heal them, and let us invoke the intercession of the Virgin".
The Pontiff also expressed support for the initiative that this Sunday is celebrated in Italy under the name "Day for life", which "began to defend life that is born and that extends to all phases and the conditions of existence" u000a"human".
To the copious snowfall ever recorded in Rome between Friday and Saturday and that has left the city covered in white, the Pope greeted the faithful who now approached the Plaza de San Pedro to defy low temperatures and said: "the snow is pretty but hopefully that spring will soon".
