The private sector last month created 257.000 jobs, mostly in the manufacturing sector, professional services, the hospitality and health care.
In January, average hourly earnings rose 0.2% to $23,39, said the report by the Government, which corrected figures of increase in employment in December and November for a combined balance of 60,000.

The data feeds the precautions of economists that the Federal Reserve should drastically moderate monetary stimulus that has u000ainjected into the economy since 2008.
After two consecutive months with a net gain of more than 200,000 jobs far more extensive unemployment, which includes those working only part time because they fail to full-time employment, and which have abandoned the search for employment, dropped a tenth of a percent to 15.1%.
In January the manufacturing sector added 50,000 jobs, the services sector had a net gain of 162,000 and the governmental sector lost 14,000 jobs.
