Agreement on passenger data is the main result of today's meeting between the European Commissioner for Affairs, Cecilia Malmström, European responsible for Justice, Viviane Reding, with its American counterparts, Eric Holder and Janet Napolitano, heads of the departments of Justice and national security, respectively.
The new protocol must be adopted by the European Parliament and approved by the Council of Ministers, where the States are represented members of the EU, and will replace the agreement in force since 2007.
The representatives of the European Union wanted the agreement to establish clearer rules for the protection of the privacy of transatlantic passengers.
