They ask for include informal workers in social security

The National Confederation of Dominican workers (CNTD) today called for the Council of the social security (CSDH) include workers in the informal sector in this system and the administering of labour risks (ARL).

The Chairman of CNTD, James Ramos, said that they should also be included workers from the construction, the port, which made farming, domestic workers and legalized aliens working in the country.

Ramos said he made the call to the State's capacity to finance the subsidized contributory scheme and not to include these workers in pension, labor and health risks

Ramos said that 56 per cent of the labour force in the country belongs to the informal sector, he said, meaning that more than 40% of the population have no guaranteed health, occupational risks or pension services.

Warned that to not be heard their claims, in February, they convened to a picket against the IDs. It called on all informal workers to join in this fight.
