Babies died between last Thursday and Sunday in the Central Hospital of the city of Maracay, in the central State of Aragua, by the action of bacteria, said Angel Melchor, regional coordinator of the entity health.
Speaking to Globovision, Melchor news channel said that the authorities opened an investigation to determine the cause of the deaths of children. In the area of Neonatology of the referral hospital began cleaning and reorganization efforts to control the problem.
According to epidemiological studies, deceased infants showed a very low weight ranging from 750 grams and 1.9 kilos, as well as being premature children, said Melchor.
Conditions u000aof health of mothers, who in the past had suffered vaginal and urinary tract infections, could have affected the State of health of the infants, added.
The bias of these children was the immaturity of their immune system, (which) made them at very high risk for infectious processes, added Melchor.
