The Government yesterday announced the creation of a Fund of RD$ 20 million to strengthen efforts to ensure the sustainability of access to antiretroviral drugs for people living with HIV in the country.

The announcement made him Vice President of the Republic, Rafael Alburquerque, who together the Chairman of the presidential AIDS Council (Copresida), Gustavo Rojas Lara and other authorities, led the ceremony of commemoration of the world day against AIDS, carried out in the Hall the caryatids of the National Palace.

During the ceremony the authorities and civil society representatives presented the new law of AIDS in the country, agreed with the active participation of the organizations and the sector business, trade, networks of people living with HIV and agencies international.

To make the announcement, Albuquerque expressed the Dominican Republic currently has an instrument which should protect and u000afacilitate the struggle in everything that has to do with the syndrome of Inmunodefi Science (AIDS).

Said that although the country has made significant achievements in the fight against the disease, "we have a complex issue, we have to continue fighting through a joint effort in everything that has to do with discrimination that are object people living with HIV".

Albuquerque considered within the framework of freedom in the country, can not rest in the fight against the disease, ensuring that all the sectors involved to express their suggestions.

The words of welcome to the World AIDS Day remembrance ceremony, were delivered by the executive director of the CONAVIHSIDA, Dr. Gustavo Rojas Lara, who highlighted the efforts made by all sectors of the country so that the new law No. 135-11 AIDS to occur.
