They reaffirm ties against trafficking
posted on: Jan 26 2012 10:3 by RDugey. Viewed 12 times.The Office for the anti-drug national White House Policy (ONDCP, for its acronym in English) yesterday reaffirmed the need for "International Alliance" to combat the consumption and trafficking of drugs originated in Central America.
The director of ONDCP, Gil Kerlikowske, met yesterday with the ambassadors of seven Central American countries before United States to deal with policies and solutions to stop the flow of drugs towards the North.
"Strengthen international partnerships is a key component of the national strategy for drug control, which involves not only the assistance to the countries partners, but also accreditation of our shared responsibility to reduce the demand for drug in the country," he defended Kerlikowske through a press release.
In particular, the director of the national anti-drug policy dispatched yesterday with Jorge Ramón Hernández Alcerro (Honduras), Néstor Méndez ambassadors u000a(Belize), Muni Figueres (Costa Rica), Francisco Altschul (El Salvador), Julio Martini (Guatemala), Francis Campbell (Nicaragua) and Mario Jaramillo (Panama).
The meeting is the second in a series of consultations between States on action against trafficking in drugs and to reduce the demand for and supply of these products.
The representative of the White House added that "the Central American countries are making considerable efforts to deal with a major assault of the transnational criminal organizations...".
