President Leonel Fernandez awarded yesterday with the order of merit of Duarte, Sánchez and Mella in the grade of Grand Cross silver plaque at the renowned sportsman and constructor, engineer Bienvenido Martinez Brea (Bebecito), and the distinguished artist Maricusa you Ornes, in the degree of Commander, by their high merits and contributions they made in favour of Dominican society, in their respective areas

The distinctions were imposed by the head of State to Brea and Ornes during a ceremony in the Hall of ambassadors of the Palace national.

One of the recitals of the Decree 711-11 which recognizes Martinez Brea, the Executive stated that this was a proponent of the national sport, through their outstanding shares in sports organisations.

With regard to Mrs Ornes, indicates that its u000arecognition is due to its outstanding contributions to the teaching of theatre in the country and abroad; as well as the dissemination of our highest cultural values, primarily through Declamation and dissemination of Dominican poets. Government recognized yesterday also 659 employees of various government institutions on the occasion of celebrating the day of the public server.
