Third gas station closed for defrauding customers

The manager of the plant, Jose Castillo, was arrested.
Jose Castillo's arrest occurred because during testing, almost all the pumps were delivering about 2 gallons of gas less for every 10 gallons sold, which amounts to a theft of about 160 pesos.
The authorities stressed that all 6 dispensers tested by the measurement equipment DIGENOR 5, were giving less gas than shown on the meter.
A team from the National Institute of Protection of Consumer Rights, together with the prosecutor assigned to this institution, Yvelia Batista, found that the dispenser allocated to Bono Gas was also defective.
Meanwhile, Arroyo Hondo Gas employees said their pumps had no problem and that Proconsumidor was wrong in it’s findings.
On the same day a Propagas station was also inspected by the team but was found to be dispensing the correct quantities of gas.
This reaffirms the assertion of the Executive Director of Proconsumidor, Altagracia Paulino, that 50% of the country's gas bottling are defrauding consumers.
This is the third gas bottling plant where Proconsumidor have uncovered this type of problem in the last week, after they began inspections. The work is intended to continue throughout the country.
