De los Santos said many international tour operators are betting on the revival of this tourist destination, "so they are sending thousands of tourists this upcoming winter season."
He urged all sectors involved in tourism to make every effort to ensure that these tourists have a pleasant, successful stay in Puerto Plata, so that tour operators continue "betting" on Puerto Plata.
De los Santos said that "we must strive to fully satisfy our foreign visitors, so that the tour operators will give Puerto Plata one last chance, and continue being interested in this destination this summer and for years to come."
The official said the government has invested heavily in infrastructure to present tourists with a different image, of a clean and organized city, with clean streets, beautiful parks, "so we have the opportunity to reposition ourselves in world tourism.
De los Santos also related how well the economy is doing in the DR. He said that many are indignant and do not accept that that is happening in this country at a time when the economy of many countries of the world is falling, including Italy, Greece, Spain and the United States.
He stressed that despite everything that is happening in those great nations, in the Dominican Republic there is great economic development, which is shown by the construction of new skyscrapers and shopping malls.
He noted that this dynamism in the construction industry from the private sector is the product of confidence in the Dominican authorities.

Realy Mr Deputy of tourism! Why don't you invest in the infrustructure of Cabarete to keep what little touist there are here now. The road into the area know as "Pro-Cab" where so many for foreigners own property and hotels are suffering due to the fact it is almost the only road not paved with asphalt. This area because it is mostly owned by foreigners and cannot vote is being penalized by the politicians who promise to do work in areas for votes. This area provides a majority of the dollars that support the local community. If you really believe what you are saying, then PAVE the road into Pro-Cab! Come see for yourself.

The Deputy stresse's that despite everything that is happening in those great nations, in the Dominican Republic there is great economic development, which is shown by the construction of new skyscrapers and shopping malls. Obviously the deputy is out of touch with reality as it is those GREAT nations the Deputy mentions as in decline that are doing the building in the Dominican Republic. What has the office of Tourism done to realy help get tourist back to the DR since in the last 5 years the tourism has been dropping in Puerto Plata Province!!!
Please explain what this office has done!!!

I like the bit about "of a clean and organized city, with clean streets, beautiful parks".
I am guessing he hasn't ever been to Puerto Plata. The tourism is bad here precisely because of him and his department that squander the tax money the receive and spend it on themselves.

Puerto Plata is getting better. Yeahhh baby !!
A new hotels(It's one of 4 room, and new !) know , more motoconchos to help the transportation, more beggars on the street (to get more people close to the tourist), more trash on the beach (to keep it out from the street), more corruption of those who run the city, (this way everything will be as normal as they're). More and more. Yeahh baby, GO DR !! we want more !
