Absent Dominicans who are arriving in the country are complaining about the tedious and slow process of implementation of the Christmas grace by Customs staff, at the Las Americas airport.

Many travelers allege that they face the discomfort of leave their luggage in transit in the Customs Hall and go to look for them at the exit to the area of baggage behind, where they have to wait long and exhausting a tedious bureaucratic process in order to apply for the Christmas grace.

Although there is still no congestion of people in the area of baggage laggards, it is feared that proceeds from the increase in the flow of flights and passengers in the coming days, the situation becomes complicated for travelers to get their belongings.

This year the Government increased the facilities for the benefit of the absent Dominicans, setting between 2,000 to 3,000 thousand dollars the amount of gifts and items that Creoles can bring to u000arelatives in Dominican Republic.

According to a brief submitted by customs, only passengers can bring, as accompanied luggage, a single unit of each of the articles per person, for that way can be benefited with the facilities Christmas.

Set that to be benefited with Christmas, grace passengers must be Dominican nationality and have six months or more without having entered the country.

Complain that the measure, rather than more streamline the process of departure from the Customs Hall, may create blockages in the area in so-called rush hours, when they meet in December in the baggage room, three and four flights at the same time full of people.

The measure in question establishes that if the traveller comes in working hours meets the requirements to implement the facilities, it is a transit to their suitcases and is sent to the area of baggage laggards, where the staff of u000aCustoms proceeds to the verification of their documents and subsequent delivery of your baggage.

Meanwhile, those who arrive at non-working times service supervisors will have the responsibility to make the process of verifying the passports of the passengers to see if they can receive the grace.
