Unemployment in 2011 in to the reached 6.8%

The Director of the Regional of the Organization International of the Labour Office (ILO) for Latin America and the Caribbean, Elizabeth Tinoco, stated that the region "responded positively to the economic crisis that broke out in 2009".
In this sense, added that the rise in the economies of Latin America in 2011 "has demonstrated that it is possible to move forward in the process of economic growth with recovery of employment".
Tinoco added that unemployment broke the 7% barrier, maintained until 2010, and fell to 6.8%, "a very significant and very low figure compared to other regions of the world," said.
According to the figures contained in the labour Outlook 2011, growth in u000aLatin America and Caribbean, with an average of 4.5 per cent, has generated close to 5.7 million jobs, while unemployment affects to 15.4 million people.
