Universities should be adapted to their reality

President Leonel Fernandez stated that Latin American universities must see them in a global context and adapt them to their realities, while he highlighted progress in the centers of higher studies of the Dominican Republic.

Considerations the President occurred last night in the panel on "Ranking of the universities Latinoamericanas", held at the Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode).

He added that universities in Latin America are not in the world ranking of university qualifications, because only they engaged in teaching and not investigated.

In this regard, the head of State proposed the internationalization of knowledge with students and teachers go abroad, and foreigners coming to the country, as well as the use of technologies in the dissemination of knowledge and the construction of a benchmarks and indicators to improve the quality of education u000asuperior.

"When we talk about topics of university rankings, there is the way of approaching, the used research methodology", expressed the President Fernández.

He said that in that context, should take into account the universities of Latin America's most prestigious, under which are class world.

Fernández said that indicators which are taken from reference to establish rankings can serve to define the objectives of our universities.

Explained that it is important to see the criteria and methodology to build indicators of research institutions that establish the rankings, to find out how can be advanced.

Stated that we must build a reference of the Nations most advanced, taking into account our realities. He said that if Latin American universities are not in the rating rankings, it is because you do not have u000aproposed as task, because the knowledge exists.
