US$20 million renovations for Puerto Plata and Las Americas airports
posted on: Apr 24 2010 10:46 by Royston. Viewed 574 times.The business consortium Siglo XXI (AERODOM) have announced the redevelopment of the South Terminal of Las Americas airport and Gregorio Luperon airport at Puerto Plata, with an investment of US$20 million.

Raul Berroeta, executive director of Las Americas airport, during a news conference, said the renovation work of the two air terminals will commence within 20 days adding that it can be completed without any disruption to operations.
The Aerodom executive, who was accompanied by Yolanda Manan, manager of Communications and Public Relations of the Consortium, said the work at both Las Americas and Gregorio Luperon will last between 18 to 24 months.
They explained that the redevelopment of the South Terminal of Las Americas, includes all areas, including the facade of the airport, the counters of various airlines, duty free zones, offices and facilities for the security agencies. It will be carried out in two phases, the second phase being renovation of the facade.
The investment will be implemented under a contract signed with the Dominican State and will double the capacity of the Capitals airport.
The Aerodom executive explained that the design element was won through competitive tender by Frank Ortega and Associates, while the company Armenteros and Associates, will be responsible for the construction work.
