In a press release, the Attorney General's Office indicates he will instruct all U.S. agencies under his direction, FBI, DEA and U.S. Marshals, to work in conjunction with the Dominican authorities.
"The attorneys met in Brasilia and discussed items of interest to both nations, including the Puerto Rican fugitive. Holder offered to provide all possible support to find him, said the press release.
"Attorney General Holder acknowledged and appreciated the great effort made by the Attorney General of the Dominican Republic in the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime. He also appreciated the effort made by that institution to improve the professionalism in the office of Public Prosecutions in the Dominican Republic," he added.
The attorneys agreed to create a commission of experts of both institutions to work on drafting an agreement aimed at regulating matters relating to the disposition of property seized in crimes like drug trafficking and tax evasion.
They also agreed to strengthen cooperation and share research in forensic areas, since the FBI has the most modern forensic laboratories in the world.
