He highlighted the levels of ongoing collaboration between agencies involved in pursuing this form of organized crime.

"We congratulate the DNCD for the excellent work being undertaken against drug trafficking. You have progressed a lot and it can be seen in the results of actions undertaken in recent times," said the diplomat.
In a meeting with Maj. Gen. Rolando Rosado Mateo, president of the Drug Enforcement Administration, Lambert said his government recognizes that the struggle of the DNCD needs to be combined with specialized entities such as the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), U.S. Marshals and the Agency for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the latter two being closely associated with the Dominican authorities to locate and arrest dangerous fugitives wanted for extradition.
"We recognize that we work together, as a team, but we have much to learn from you in this task. The exchange of information is essential in this struggle and that's what we're doing," said the diplomat, who came to Mateos office accompanied by two officers assigned to the DEA office in the Dominican Republic.
DNCD spokesman Roberto Lebron reported that the U.S. Ambassador said the Dominican Republic is not alone in efforts to track down drug traffickers who use innovative methods to outwit the authorities.
Mateo felt that the assistance and cooperation of U.S. agencies sends a direct message to the drug cartels not to use Hispaniola as a bridge and not to treat the island as a refuge for criminals. "This fight is not possible without your support," he said.
The head of the DNCD expressed his hope that anti-drug authorities will continue to receive support from agencies like the DEA. Mateo was accompanied by the directors of the Center for Information and Joint Coordination (CICC) and Administrative Generals Jos Eugenio Matos de la Cruz and Manuel Geraldo Rodriguez Miranda.
