Wealthy Italian arrested for drug trafficking

Génise Antonio Rosario was apprehended in his Land cruiser on George Washington Avenue in Santo Domingo with a Smith and Wesson revolver, license expired, in his possession.
Police said Rosario, who has a Dominican Identity card, owns a penthouse, several shops, SUVs, cars, and businesses valued at more than 100 million pesos.
The police report said they had been acting under a judicial arrest order number 2301 issued by a Dominican judge and also a warrant from Interpol in Rome.
Apparently the list of his assets in this country include; a bank certificate for 302,000 Euros, a US$750,000 apartment in Malecón Center Torre I, a shop in the same tower block valued at US$300,000, a Subaru car with plate A386558, several bank accounts, credit cards and commercial premises with a power plant valued at US$25,000 located in Los Guaricanos.
The DNCD chief explained that the Italian is detained at the Criminal Investigation Division of the DNCD awaiting deportation. He added that the Interpol agents are continuing their inquiries and investigations are still going on to locate the suspect's accomplices in the country.
