What is popular sovereignty?

Popular sovereignty is the one who resides exclusively in the Dominican Republic, people, and this means that the town and its citizens is from whom emanate all the authorities, which shall be exercised through representatives or in the form directly.

I invite the kind readers to take a look at the first five articles of the Constitution or law of law, our Constitution, in order to redefine the concepts of nation, State, Government and above all, its principles fundamental.

Popular sovereignty as we have said is inviolable, no matter to be of any foreign power; and to defend the inviolability of national sovereignty, is the style that no public authority in the Constitution can make or allow acts that constitute an intervention directly or indirectly in the internal or external of the Dominican Republic; Affairs or interference that violates the personality and u000aintegrity of the State and the attributes that are recognized and enshrined in the Constitution. The principle of non-intervention constitutes an invariable standard of international politics Dominican.

Is good to note that this cannot remain as mere dead letter, but rather on the contrary the Constitution of the Republic is based on respect for human dignity and the indissoluble unity of the nation, common homeland of all Dominicans and Dominican. Is also good to remember that all persons and bodies which exercise public powers are subject to the Constitution, Supreme Law and Foundation of the legal system of the State.

Of the above it follows that any attitude or behaviour contrary to the provisions of the Constitution will be punished and duly punished by the judicial apparatus of the Dominican State, specifically and now with the creation of the Constitutional Court, which body but extra means u000ajudiciary, will have functions for other very important, and exceptionally, we also have regular courts who act through diffuse.

In addition, any act, law, Decree, resolution, regulation which is contrary to the Constitution, shall be void of full right.
