Celebs and art personalities have been working the social networking sites pushing for the Government to invest 4% of the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) as indicated by law, into education.
Some of them have joined forces not only online, but have also supported the Colisión Educación Digna (Worthy Education Collision) movement's call to protest by wearing yellow today.
"The issue has nothing to do with political parties, but to apply the law and understand the demand of the population," said José Enrique Pintor, a television producer. Artists and TV presenters have become promoters of the so-called "Yellow Monday", which aims to draw atten tion to the authorities. A video has also been made by the organizers, led by Tania Báez, Yolanda Martínez, Tony Almont, Nuria Piera, Huchi Lora, Marel
Alemany, Pablo Mckinney, Janio Lora, Miralba Ruíz, Pavel Núñez, Ico Abréu, Frank
Ceara, among others. This material has been circulating on the web for over a week and invites citizens to wear a yellow article of clothing today.
Other journalists and artists joined the cause. Some, but have not appeared in the official video, but have taken up the cause and have posted messages that range from anger to laughter.
TV presenter Karina Larrauri announced that she would paint her car, nails, and was considering painting her face yellow.
Miralba Ruiz publicly announced her political preference saying that she supports the PLD and that is precisely why this is such a "pain", as former leader Juan Bosch was a teacher and educator.
TV producer José Enrique-Pinky-Pintor de-politicized the issue by making the point that this has nothing to do with political parties, but to simply apply the law and that the authorities understand that the population are claiming their rights.
Since last Friday, some television programs have not only addressed the issue or received a Colisión Educación Digna movement's spokesmen , but also dressed in yellow. The co-hosts of the "Fun with Jochy " show (Telesistema, channel 11), not only had yellow in their costumes, but on Saturday also wore a specially designed costume for the protest.
The yellow shirt has been requested by many, to the point that stocks were completely exhausted by Friday, as well as the yellow umbrellas. The shortage was rectified quickly, and over the weekend umbrellas and shirts were placed in several places so that interested parties could acquire them before Monday.
TV channels, presenters, musicians, journalists and citizens have joined the campaign that has generated great interest and promises to be a peaceful place during the day.
The initiative by a group of young people was to investigate the condition of education in the country and create a video entitled "Cerito y cruz" which rapidly circulated on the web and since then many people have learned the truth about the 4% of GDP for education.
