Zapatero calls the EU and the ECB an immediate solution to address the crisis

The President of the Spanish Government, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, today called for the European Union (EU) and to the European Central Bank (ECB) an "immediate" solution to deal with the international economic crisis because, in his view, "Europe is the answer to return to stability".

In an electoral act of the worker Spanish Socialist Party (PSOE), Zapatero recalled that the problem of the financial system was not arranged changing Governments, "but that there should be a European Government to take decisions for all".

Also said that Spain has resisted and will resist efforts to reduce the deficit "but maintaining the pillars of social cohesion, as few countries have been able to do so".
