Zones exported more than US$ 4,475 MM

Viewed 13 times.During the past year 2011 zones of Dominican Republic sector continued experiencing an extraordinary and substantial growth in its key indicators reach the value of exports close to us $4,475 billion, equivalent to a growth of 17 per cent, over 2010.
Information was offered by Luisa Fernández Durán, Executive Director of the National Council of export free zone areas (CNZFE).
The official indicated that the growth of exports of the sector has been driven mainly by the subsectors of manufacture of footwear and textile manufacturing, which registered growth of 57% and 21%, respectively.
Also, highlights of jewellery sectors, with a growth of 20%; Medical products, with 17%; While the line of other sectors recorded a growth of 16%; thus proving the vigorous process of diversification of activities u000aproductive.
Fernández, stated that the dynamism achieved in exports of the sector registered a significant levels of employment impact, to grow 3%, and moving from 121,000 jobs, in the year 2010, to 125,000, in the year 2011.
Last year 2011, the CNZFE adopted a total of 76 new companies, which generate 8,384 direct jobs, with a total investment of RD$ 2,484 million, and generation of foreign currencies of $63.4 million.
Approved businesses will be devoted to the provision of services of communications or "call centers" (21%); Agricultural and agro-industry (17%); Manufacturing textile (10%), and tobacco products (9%), among others.
Economic policy
Fernández said that the decision of new enterprises to choose Dominican Republic as a destination for investment is the result of the economic policy drawn up by the Government.
En RD operate 51 parks and 582 enterprises of zones throughout the u000anational geography, which occupy a total area of 29.3 million square feet of industrial buildings.
